LEZIZAM: A Queer Gathering for Iranians in Chicago

  • Eli Tea Bar 5507 North Clark Street Chicago, Illinois, 60640 United States (map)

LEZIZAM

Join BIYA BIYA for in-person event for Iranian queers in Chicago!
In tandem with sister events happening on October 10th in LA and NYC inspired by the Lesbian History Archives, we will create collages and zines that make space for cultural reflection and preservation.

As we meet and mix, we will share creative space to make materials documenting our existence. Participants can contribute to a collection that will be donated to the Lesbian Herstory Archives, home to the world‘s largest collection of materials by and about lesbians and their communities since 1974.

This space welcomes Iranians across the queer spectrum including and alike khānvāde (family) to find each other and build community. This event is exclusively for people of Iranian heritage. Considering the limitations on these types of spaces, attendees agree to center queerness, foster inclusivity, and be safe community members. Please make sure this is you before signing up to participate in this event.

BIYA BIYA Productions is a Chicago-based Creative Agency and Production House centering diasporic artists through cultural workshops, concerts, and arts management. In Farsi, BIYA BIYA means “come, come”! As a queer, femme Iranian-American-led company, we make space that is community-focused, responsive, and vibrant.

Eli Tea Bar is a queer-owned tea café in Andersonville.

There is no cost to attend. We ask attendees to donate towards supplies in use during the event. No one will be turned away.
