Needle Felting Workshop with Little Guy Factory

Come create a charming magnet of your own design using needle felting! Needle felting uses the repetitive poking of small, barbed needles to firm and sculpt wool. Our facilitator Jenn will share a brief overview of felting and guide attendees through all the basics needed. Consider felting a magnet of a pet, beloved cartoon character, or something truly unique to you. No prior experience is required.

ABOUT THE ARTIST 
Little Guy Factory is the creative home of Jenn Archer, a fiber artist and illustrator based in Chicago. Jenn loves needle felting because it requires one to slow down and focus lest your finger suffer a poke. Fiber arts also provide a sense of connection to her Colombian roots. Her work creates community through humor, warmth, and a shared love of silly, smiling animals. Her favorite moments are when people see a little guy and share a sweet anecdote or talk about who the little guy reminds them of. Little Guy Factory can be found at various craft markets in Chicago. Jenn also works as a therapist and does her best to find ways to infuse art into her therapy practice.

FAQ:

I have never needle felted before. Will it be difficult to get started?
Needle felting is considered incredibly beginner friendly, relying entirely on the poking of the wool versus any complicated techniques. The answer to most needle felt concerns is “stab it more”, which is quite intuitive for most beginners. Consider bringing a reference image to imitate.

If I suffer from tendonitis/wrist pain, should I attend this event?
You know yourself best, but it is worth considering whether an hour or more of repetitive poking motion might exacerbate any pre-existing concerns. Everyone is encouraged to work at whatever pace suits them best.

Are the supplies included?
Yes! Everything needed will be provided. You just have to bring your ideas!

What if I accidentally stab myself when felting?
It will hurt, so please wear the provided finger guards. Jenn has no chill when it comes to encouraging the use of proper equipment.
